What does burning a token mean?

2 min read
In short

Burning sends coins to an address nobody controls, so they can never be used again. Total supply goes down. On ArkhamPad, coins in Buyback and burn mode use creator fees to buy and burn their own coin.

Why burn

With fewer coins around, each remaining coin is a bigger share of the total.

Buyback and burn on ArkhamPad

The creator fee buys the coin from the market and burns it. The amount burned shows on the coin page.

FAQ

Does burning make the price go up?

Not always. Price depends on buyers and sellers. Burning only reduces supply.
