Elysium Gas Fees: What a Trade Really Costs
Elysium gas fees are paid in HYPE and are very low, so the network fee is rarely the biggest cost of a trade. The larger costs are usually the pool fee (1% on ArkhamPad coins), any router fee (0.5% for tokens launched elsewhere, none for ArkhamPad coins) and price impact. Always keep a little HYPE for gas.
How do gas fees work on Elysium?
Gas is the fee you pay the network to process a transaction. On Elysium, gas is paid in HYPE, the same token used for gas on HyperEVM. It is taken from your wallet balance each time you buy, sell, approve a token, create a coin or bridge.
Elysium is an Arbitrum Orbit chain, so gas works the way it does on other EVM networks. A simple transfer uses less gas than a swap through a pool, and a busy network can push fees up a little. At launch, one sequencer orders transactions by priority fee, so a higher priority fee can place your transaction earlier.
You do not need a separate token for gas. If you hold HYPE on Elysium, you can pay fees. For how HYPE gets onto Elysium, read HYPE on Elysium.
Why are Elysium gas fees so low?
Two design choices keep costs down.
- More block space. Hyperliquid keeps HyperEVM blocks small on purpose. Elysium was built to give trading apps, launchpads and AMMs much more room, with fast blocks and high throughput. More room means less competition for each slot.
- Compact settlement. Elysium does not post all its data to HyperEVM in normal operation. An AnyTrust-style committee stores the full data and posts compact certificates to HyperEVM, which keeps settlement costs small.
The result is that gas costs on Elysium are very low. Exact numbers change with demand, so check the estimate in your wallet before you confirm.
What else do you pay when you trade on Elysium?
Gas is only one line. A full trade can include:
- Network fee (gas). Very low, paid in HYPE.
- Pool fee. Charged by the liquidity pool on every trade. ArkhamPad coins use a 1% pool fee. Tokens from other launchpads trade in pools with their own fee settings.
- Router fee. Trades through the ArkhamPad router of tokens launched elsewhere carry a small 0.5% fee. ArkhamPad coins pay no router fee.
- Price impact. The price moves against you as your trade eats into the pool. Larger trades in smaller pools pay more.
- Token tax. Some tokens charge their own transfer tax. Those may not be sellable through the router at all.
On ArkhamPad coins, the 1% pool fee is shared: 30% goes to the coin's creator and 70% to ArkhamPad, paid out in HYPE and in the coin.
Example: what does a trade really cost?
Say you buy an ArkhamPad coin with 10 HYPE.
- Pool fee: 1% of the trade, about 0.1 HYPE.
- Router fee: none, because it is an ArkhamPad coin.
- Gas: a very small amount of HYPE.
- Price impact: depends on your trade size compared with the pool.
Now say you buy a token launched elsewhere with the same 10 HYPE through the ArkhamPad router. You pay the 0.5% router fee, about 0.05 HYPE, plus whatever fee that token's pool charges, plus gas and price impact.
Remember that fees apply on the way out too. A buy followed by a sell pays the pool fee twice. Before confirming, check the quote and the minimum received amount shown in the buy or sell box.
Price impact and slippage: the costs people miss
Price impact is the move your own trade causes. Small memecoins often have thin liquidity near the current price, so a large buy can push the price up noticeably before your order completes. Comparing your trade size with the token's market cap and volume helps you judge this. Market cap vs price explains why market cap is the better number to watch.
Slippage tolerance is different. It is the maximum extra price change you accept between the quote and the moment your trade lands. ArkhamPad lets you choose 1%, 3%, 5% (the default) or 10%. If the price moves beyond your setting, the trade fails instead of filling at a worse price. A failed transaction still uses a little gas. Slippage explained covers which setting to use and when.
How can you keep trading costs down?
- Size trades to the pool. Check volume and recent candles before buying. How to read a memecoin chart shows what to look for.
- Trade less often. Every round trip pays pool fees twice. Frequent small flips add up.
- Use a sensible slippage setting. Too low and trades fail. Too high and you may fill at a poor price.
- Watch for token taxes. A token with its own transfer tax can cost far more than the fees above, and may be impossible to sell through the router.
- Keep a HYPE reserve. Running out of gas can leave you holding a token you cannot sell until you add HYPE.

Do bridging and withdrawals cost gas?
Yes. Bridging HYPE from HyperEVM to Elysium involves a transaction on HyperEVM, which pays gas in HYPE there. Withdrawing back through the official bridge involves transactions too, and the funds finalize after a challenge period of about 5.5 days.
If you bring USDC from Base through ArkhamPad, it is converted to HYPE on the way in through a cross-chain route. The route has its own costs, so review what you will receive before you confirm.
Frequently asked questions
What token pays gas on Elysium?
HYPE, Hyperliquid's native token. It is bridged 1:1 from HyperEVM through the official Elysium bridge, so you do not need a separate gas token. Gas is taken from your HYPE balance for every transaction, including buying, selling, approving tokens, creating a coin and bridging out.
Why did my Elysium transaction fail if gas is so cheap?
Common reasons are running out of HYPE for gas, the price moving beyond your slippage setting, or a token with its own transfer tax that the router cannot sell. Add a small amount of HYPE, try a slightly higher slippage setting, or check the token page for unusual behavior before trying again.
Do ArkhamPad coins pay a router fee?
No. ArkhamPad coins pay no router fee. Tokens launched elsewhere and traded through the ArkhamPad router carry a small 0.5% router fee. ArkhamPad coins do pay their 1% pool fee on every trade, which is split 30% to the coin's creator and 70% to ArkhamPad.
Who receives the 1% pool fee on ArkhamPad coins?
The 1% pool fee on every ArkhamPad coin trade is split between the coin's creator and ArkhamPad. The creator receives 30% and ArkhamPad receives 70%. Fees are collected from the pool and paid out in HYPE and in the coin itself, so creator earnings depend on how much the coin is traded.
Are Elysium gas fees lower than HyperEVM gas fees?
Elysium was built to give trading apps much more block space than HyperEVM, which keeps its blocks small on purpose, and gas costs on Elysium are very low. Exact fees on either chain change with demand, so compare the estimate your wallet shows at the time you trade rather than relying on fixed numbers.
